Warragul Theatre Organ Society

Welcome to the Website of the Warragul Theatre Organ Society (WTOS)—Gippsland division of the Theatre Organ Society of Australia (TOSA).

The venue for our CLUB DAYS and CONCERTS is Wesley of Warragul, 62 Victoria Street, Warragul.  The 1889 building has been extensively renovated and extended to include an organ chamber under the roof.

Club Day is usually on the first Saturday of each month from 2pm to 4pm.  See What’s On for details.

Visitors and prospective new members are always welcome to our club days, whether you are a ‘player’ or a ‘listener’.  Concerts are open to the general public.

Come and hear the Mighty WurliTzer theatre pipe organ and make new friends over afternoon tea.

Sunday 20th May 2012

at Wesley of Warragul
62 Victoria St Warragul

2pm (doors open at 1.30pm)

The Console "the visible part" of our 3/10 Organ
installed at Wesley of Warragul

The 3 manual Console connects by multi-core cable to operate the pipes, percussion, xylophone, etc. up in the organ loft (or chamber).

The acoustics of Wesley are just perfect for the 10 ranks of pipes—played from the three manuals (keyboards) and foot pedals of the restored 1924 console of the WurliTzer theatre pipe organ. The organ chamber is behind the grille, seen high on the wall in the photo below.

Warragul Theatre Organ Society celebrated its 30th year in 2009.  First AGM was held in the Gippsland Organ Studio in 1979, by the Warragul Organ Club, with 15 members.  The club became the Gippsland Division of TOSA in October 1989.  Other Warragul venues have also been our 'home' - the Education Centre, Pindari (Vision Australia) and the Masonic Hall.

First meeting in Wesley was on 11 June 2005, when we were entertained by Chris Powell from the UK playing our Conn Martinique Electronic organ, (pre Wurlitzer installation).

Our Society is indebted to TOSA (Vic) for their support and encouragement.  Thanks also to Bendigo Theatre Organ Society who donated their funds towards our Wurlitzer, when their Society disbanded.

Go to Our Organ to learn about the Wurlitzer organ restoration, installation and it's specifications.

The Grand Opening of the 3/10 Wurlitzer is featured in the Gallery.

Warragul Theatre Organ Society aims to promote our Wurlitzer and theatre organ music, and also classical organ music.  We currently have over 75 members.
